Before you begin your party planning though, consider these tips:

Prepare the food before the party. Plan for hot or chilly weather. Whatever time of year your party is, be mindful of how the temperatures will affect the children attending the party. Plan for seating and potential food disasters. Don't limit the party to the afternoon. Hold an outdoor dining event that reflects the theme of the party. For instance, if you choose a space themed party, the children could dress up as astronauts or aliens.

Have fun with your plans and make this party one your child will remember. With so many birthday party games to select from, take into consideration the volume of guests, the spacing available, and the educational impact your games could afford.

Quiet games does not necessarily have to mean sitting at a table playing 7-up, and children will appreciate the challenge of traditional games played under strict techniques of silence.

In the event they discover the hidden player, they very quietly join them inside their hiding place. This game gets its name coming from the sense of being in a pack of sardines when all players have joined you in your hiding place.

The additional players run around and hide, and at set intervals the player who is 'it' switches on their flashlight and holds it still. Any player caught inside the flashlight is out. If a player gets 2 or more beanbags, the action stops.

Place a bowl close to each team's starting line, and two bowls a straight-line distance away. Fill the "distant" bowl for each team with your pennies or other tokens.

Divide the children into two teams, lined up behind each other at the starting line. For younger children, use large bowls to catch the dropped items. Line the children up into two teams. Give the first child in each line a broom or a bat.

The object of the game is to sweep or bat the ball along the ground from the starting line to the finish line. Place a ball on the starting line in front of each team. When you say "GO," the first child on each team sweeps or bats their ball to the finish line. When the ball crosses the finish line the child picks up the ball and runs the ball and the broom or bat back to the next person in line. The first team to finish wins.
